I've never even seen daffodils like this.

5 Favorite Summer Trends

Happy June! Summertime is upon us, so I thought I’d share my top 5 favorite summer trends. I love trends, but I also love classic pieces that you’ll get to use season after season. So, I’d say I tend to follow the trends that I think might stick around for a bit. But at the end of the day, you’ve just got to choose pieces for your closet that you love and feel comfortable wearing. If you like bright colors but the trend is to wear white, then wear your colors boldly and with confidence. I think clothes are great and all, but it’s always more about clothes just complimenting the person that you already are on the inside. :)

One Piece Suits

Okay, I mean, we’ve all seen this video of the moms who expressed all of our thoughts on swim suit season. If you haven’t seen it, just watch it now. You’ll thank me later. With that being said, I love this solid one piece swim suit trend and I hope it stays.

Classic Trench Coat & Leopard Print

Happy Wednesday, friends! The weather went from covering our yard in icy snow two weekends ago to being in the 60s and 70s this past weekend. Honestly, I was kind of excited to have weather above freezing for a few days. Being a Florida girl and all, I’m still adjusting to lower temperatures and seasons that are not summer. 😉 I like our current weather because it’s a good excuse to break out my favorite khaki trench coat (and channel my inner Audrey Hepburn) while also trading in my winter boots for a pair of cute ballet flats. I think a staple in every girl’s closet should be a good pair of leopard print flats and a khaki trench coat.

Snow Day!

Last weekend, we had our first snow day of the year and I’d say it was one of my favorite weekends in a really long time. Atlanta pretty much looses its mind when it snows or ices, because none of us (except the northern transplants) know how to drive in snow so the roads shut down and you can only walk to places. Our other problem is that we end up with a lot of ice because the snow melts and quickly becomes not so fun. Thankfully, this snow storm wasn’t anything like they predicted and we got to enjoy a little wintery magic. Let’s be honest, we all turn into kids when it snows and I’m no exception. Hope you enjoy some photos of our snow day! Ps. I’ve linked a few of my snow day clothes at the end of this post.

Here you can see how I carried my bags when traveling from city to city. The Porter was perfect for me and I felt like I could easily carry it.

My favorite travel clothes

Hi friends!

You guys know I love to travel, but I think I love the planning part of traveling just as much as the trip itself. It’s a weird Type-A sort of thing. 😉 One of the most important parts of planning a trip is figuring out what to pack and how to pack. We love to pack our things in our Osprey backpacks, even for longer trips like our two week trip to Italy or trip to Seattle & Vancouver. See my previous posts about packing in a backpack and my detailed packing list.

I’ve found that you can still pack in a carry-on-backpack and look cute while traveling. And here’s how! Check out the links below. :)

Fall Fashion

I know, I know…it’s hard to think about fall and pulling your sweaters out of the closet when it’s still 95 degrees outside. But, I know fall is coming soon (crossing fingers). So, I decided to compile a few of my favorite fall pieces for you to check out. My all-time favorite place to shop for basics  would definitely be H&M, but I’ve linked a couple of other great stores, as well.  I like H&M because they are affordable and I feel like their stuff fits me well. I’m okay splurging on things I know will last a long time (like boots or jeans), but with my line of work, I don’t want to spend a fortune on clothes when they might get smeared with glue or things that come out of faces. So, check out a few of my recent favorites & happy fall shopping! :)

My Favorite Etsy Shops

I’ve always been a big fan of the hand-made, small business type of gifts and treats. I love handmade scarves, ornaments, paintings, stationary, prints and pottery. This goes all the way back to the days when I’d spend hours crafting with my grandmother or sister. When considering gifts to buy for birthdays or holidays, I always like choosing something with meaning. And for the most part, that’s either something handmade or personal. After lots of time and money spent shopping the etsy market, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite shops. If you’re like me, I’m sure you have wedding gifts, baby gifts and birthday presents to buy now that the holiday season is over. Or maybe you’ve just acquired some money from Christmas and you’re looking for a great way to spend it! 😉 Regardless, I think you’ll find these etsy shops and gift ideas as charming as I did.

Ps. All gifts listed are $50 and under! And a few of these awesome etsy shops are offering coupon codes and discounts this month! Click on the red link to visit the shop. :) Continue reading

Bridal Shoot with Gold House Studio

My really talented childhood friend, Megan, has this adorable photography company called Gold House Studio. She has a magical way of making everyone feel comfortable when she’s taking photos and then her final product is always nothing short of stunning. Megan took some of our engagement photos (which you’ll see later this year) and all of my graduation photos, but this was one of my favorite photo shoots that we did together. Also, check out the rest of Megan’s work here. :)

Ps. I’ve got a new blog series kicking off next month and it’s all about really awesome people (like Megan) who have made their passion part of their job! Stay tuned, friends! Continue reading

2 Week Packing List

Hi friends!

As promised, here’s my version of a 2 week trip’s packing list. Remember that this packing list is for those who would like to pack in a backpack, but you could modify it for any trip. We have recently discovered that we love to travel with backpacks (not a new concept, but new to us) and we know a lot of people who are interested in doing the same. If you missed my post from a few days ago, here it is! It’s full of advice on how to pack for a trip in a backpack and why it’s definitely worth the extra effort. Also, here’s a post about our Italian honeymoon and advice on how to plan a Euro trip with links pointing you to where you can find various helpful travel items. Continue reading

Packing for Europe (in a backpack)

One of my favorite things about our recent trip to Italy was that we packed everything in a backpack and a little purse/day pack. When people find out that we packed everything for two weeks in such small bags, their eyes get big and their next question is “WHY?” So, here’s why.

Why pack in a backpack for 2 weeks?

As I said in my first post about our trip, I’d done the whole travel amongst many cities and carry a large bag thing. It’s not for me. I love clothes and shoes just as much as the next girl, but I was tired of lugging a massive suitcase all over the place. I wanted the freedom to know I could carry everything I needed and didn’t need anyone’s help. I also knew we would be traveling amongst various cities, catching trains and planes with short layovers.  I didn’t want to worry about checking a bag and possibly losing it. I wanted my bag to fit in all overhead compartments and allow me to be as mobile as possible. For travel tips, check out my trip planning post. Continue reading

Our Wedding Day

On April 11th I had the privilege of marrying the man I call my best friend. The fact that three months have already passed since our wedding day is really crazy to me. I mean, wasn’t I just stressing over details and doing the crazy wedding planning dance!? (By the way, out of state wedding planning is absolutely nuts). Before our wedding, I would pray all the time that our marriage would be far more beautiful and joyful than our wedding. Our wedding was beyond what I could’ve imagined, so this marriage has a lot to live up to. But honestly, I think it’s up for the challenge! It’s been a beautiful three months with lots of challenges, changes and adventures. I see why marriage is such a great thing and how it teaches you so much about yourself, your spouse and life.

Enjoy a few photos and details about our wedding attire, decorations and other ideas! These photos put the biggest smile on my face. Also, stay tuned for posts about lessons I’ve learned in marriage, wedding planning tips and details about our Italian honeymoon. Continue reading
